Today, Interim Superintendent of Schools Lamarr Thomas joined students from the Janis E. Dismus Middle School National Junior Honor Society and McCloud Elementary School at Veterans Memorial Park for the City of Englewood’s community remembrance commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Gathered alongside community leaders, first responders, veterans, and Englewood residents at the September 11th Monument, our students had a meaningful opportunity to honor and remember those who lost their lives while reflecting on the importance of service, leadership, unity, and community.
We are especially proud of JDMS students Ali’ja Robinson and Zachary Balkasoon, who represented our district by leading the Pledge of Allegiance during the ceremony.
In the days and months following September 11th, communities across our nation came together through extraordinary acts of courage, compassion, and service. Twenty-five years later, opportunities like today’s remembrance allow our students to carry those lessons forward and understand the strength that comes from supporting one another and coming together as a community.
Thank you to the City of Englewood for including our students in this meaningful day of remembrance.
